1945 Gibson Banner J-45

1945 Gibson Banner J-45

$15,995.00

Clean, excellent-condition Gibson J-45 from the tail-end of the Banner-era. If you know me personally, you probably know my taste and I'll say this: This is the best-sounding Gibson dreadnought I can remember hearing in the last 10 years. Maybe ever? A tremendous candidate if you're in the market. It has all the best features, too, in my opinion. These include a Red Spruce top (four-piece), one-piece mahogany neck, mahogany back and sides, and a truss rod. It has no cracks anywhere except for one small impression on the bass side rim about the size of a nickel. The neck has been professionally reset and a handcrafted bridge made from Brazilian rosewood (the original was shaved and has been removed & retained). Everything else is original, including the bridge plate. A truly stunning instrument and I'm quite confident if your tastes are anything similar to mine, you'll be very pleased. If you want maple, buy a Dove. If you want a quintessential example of one of the most famous acoustic instruments ever made, well, here it is. With Calton hard case.
