1954 Gibson Les Paul Junior

1954 Gibson Les Paul Junior

$11,295.00

Clean, original, first-year Gibson Les Paul Junior from 1954. Includes original alligator chip case!

Nut width: 1.70”

Neck thickness: 1st fret - .91”, 12th fret - .99”

Weight: 8 lbs, 0.2 oz.

Pickup Resistance: 9.13k

Originality: All-original save for the tailpiece (Music City Bridges “Stud Finder”) and the posts . The original shallow bushings have been replaced with a longer variation to prevent post lean which is common to this era of LPJR. This was done prior to acquisition.

Condition: The guitar is in fabulous condition and exhibits a clean exterior and interior. The neck was loose in the pocket and has been professionally reset/reglued with hide glue. The original small frets are very low, but the playability is absolutely fantastic! There is some fingerboard finish/de-lamination which is pictured, but appears to simply be cosmetic. A very small, inconspicuous stress crack in front of the bass side bridge post has been professionally touched up and is almost completely invisible. It’s very minor and it‘s apparent great care was put into the repair. It could very easily be missed if you didn’t specifically look for it and, even then, it’s still incredibly difficult to see. This is extremely common in pre-‘56 Les Paul guitars and has been corrected for future use.

This Junior is a total ripper, even on the low, original tiny frets. If someone like Paul Westerberg is your jam, this is your first-class ticket. If the original case is any indication, a prior owner was in a band named “In-Mates”. I can’t see how anyone who is a fan of these model wouldn’t be blown away by how ringy and resonant this thing is!
